VIC:Horror crash survivor off critical list

One of the naval recruits who survived a horror crash that killed two of his colleagues
earlier this week has been removed from the critical list.

The 19 year-old was airlifted from the crash site at Crib Point .. south of Melbourne
.. to Royal Melbourne Hospital in a critical condition.

A hospital spokesman says the young man is now stable.

Meanwhile .. an 18-year-old and 26-year-old who were taken to The Alfred hospital remain
in a critical but stable condition.

The 20-year-old driver and a 22-year-old passenger were killed when their station wagon
hit a concrete power pole just before before midnight on Tuesday .. all five men were
from the HMAS Cerberus training base.

Police have said excessive speed appears to have contributed to the crash.
